I am a witch. I can call myself a witch because I have always had an active interest in witchcraft. I believe in the Witches Rede – ‘An it harm none, do as thou wilt.’ I strive to live, and let other’s live as they wish.
But, in the world of witches, I am a beginner. You see, as of this writing, I have never cast a spell. I have absorbed everything I could lay my hands on concerning witchcraft. I have read, and read, and read some more – I have meditated. I have allowed what I have read to sink in.
It took me a very long time to come to terms with what I do and do not believe…and while it is not my intention to push those beliefs onto any other person, they are my beliefs, and this is my blog. You may not agree with my beliefs – and if that is the case, that is perfectly fine. I want you to believe as you choose to believe, and to not interfere with what I believe. I’m not going to anyone else’s blog and pushing off my beliefs, and I ask that anyone that comes to mine pay me the same respect and courtesy.
Some say that I am a Christian Witch. But Wiccans say that isn’t possible, and Christians say that isn’t possible. I am not Wiccan. If anything, I lean closer to Christianity – but in reality, by definition, I cannot be called a Christian either.
I consider myself to be Pagan, when I think about it, although some people mistakenly believe that all Pagans are Wiccan and all Wiccans are Pagan, which just is not true. Paganism is older than Christianity – Wicca is younger than Christianity. Paganism, Wicca, and Christianity are three very different things.
In all honesty, I don’t think about ‘what I am’ much. I am just me, with my own thoughts and beliefs, and while I used to worry and wonder about what label I should attach to myself, I have since grown and realized that I simply do not need a label. None of us do, although I realize and respect that some people are more comfortable with a label that they can identify or associate themselves with.
So, if you must label me, call me a Pagan. But I am also a person, a woman, a wife, a mother, a writer, a daughter, a pet owner, and much more. If I must be labeled, there are numerous labels to attach to me.
The purpose of this blog is to write about my journey through witchcraft. As I said, I’ve been reading for years – and now I’ve reached the point in my life where I am ready to take the next step – to start putting what I have learned into action.
Hopefully, if you are a beginner like me, you’ve already done a lot of reading. If you haven’t, you can start here and travel along with me as I begin my journey. Just look for the information you are seeking in the various categories that I’ve set up here.
Again, find your own path and follow it. My path may not be the right path for you. It takes a great deal of soul searching and learning before you can truly figure out what is right for you. I’m not here to change you mind about anything. I certainly am not qualified to point you in any specific direction – all I can do is write about my own quest, and my own experiences, and if that helps you in anyway, then it’s definitely worth my time!
